As you explore Pella during Tulip Time, enjoy the hundreds of people in traditional Dutch attire. In the parades, you'll find every province represented and many are wearing antique costumes carefully preserved and handed down through the generations. In the 'Baby Parade' you'll see a block or more of moms, dads, grandparents and babies in traditional Dutch attire during each sunny afternoon parade.

What you may not realize is that you can tell a lot about a person by the costume that they are wearing - what province or village the wearer is from, their religion, whether or not they are married, and their amount of wealth, among others.

Click here to learn from two Pella seamstresses who have

spent years researching and making various Dutch costumes.

Take a quick look here at the costumes of the Netherlands by clicking on each province. How many of these can you pick out when you come to Pella?
